Former Arsenal defender to reject Leicester City transfer?

Bacary Sagna eyeing Italy challenge

Former Arsenal defender to reject Leicester City transfer?

14 October 2017 - 14:42

Former Manchester City and Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is reportedly set to snub advances from Leicester City for a switch to the Serie A.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • The France international has been a free agent since his release from City in the summer, and he is apparently keen on a move to the Italian top-flight.

Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare had earlier admitted that his side are in the mix to sign the veteran right-back, but the Frenchman appears to have set his heart out on a fresh challenge in a new league.

"I will definitely watch the Milan derby. Italian football has always fascinated me," Sagna told Gazzetta dello Sport. "These are the games you always want to play. I expect a high level and a draw. I'm ready. I follow Serie A, there are other big teams like Napoli, Roma, Milan and Juventus. It's a competitive championship."

The former FA Cup champion added that he is not looking into the financial package, and he is on the search for an ambitious team where he could spend the latter stages of his career.

Sagna spent 11 seasons with both Arsenal and Manchester City, but he was unfortunate to have not got the chance to lift the Premier League trophy with either side.
