Toni keeps Bayern on top

Toni keeps Bayern on top

17 February 2008 - 22:44

A Luca Toni hattrick kept Bayern Munich on top of the Bundesliga as they moved three points clear after a 3-0 victory over Hannover on Sunday evening. Hitzfeld's side are undefeated in seven and are still ahead of rivals Werder Bremen.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • First Toni lofted a bicycle kick over keeper Robert Enke's head from 11 yards after the ball fell to him from a corner.

And six minutes later it was two as the Italy international ran onto a fine throughball from Bastian Schweinsteiger and beat Enke to his right with a left-footed finish.

Toni sealed his treble with eight minutes remaining, the ball rebounding to him to head into an empty net after Enke had stopped his initial effort.
