Giggs: Man Utd will beat Lyon

19 February 2008 - 10:03

Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs is ready to play his 100th Champions League game against Lyon, and insists the club will fight back from their Champions League heartache from last season where they suffered 5-3 defeat to AC Milan in the semi finals.

  • Chelsea want to sign Roggerio Nyakossi
  • Arsenal midfielder returns from Spain duty with injury
  • Giggs said "I think the players who experienced that disappointment in Milan will be helped by it.

“The Milan match was tough. We came up against a very good team when we were down to the bare bones and still going for the Premier League title.

“Milan weren’t really going for anything else and were able to rest players. It was just different circumstances for different teams.

“Their main aim was the Champions League, while we were probably still split on which was the better trophy to go for. A lot of our players hadn’t won the Premier League before. This year we’ll hopefully be wiser."
