Sunderland in move for French defender Duverne

29 December 2017 - 20:46

Sunderland have been linked with a move for French defender Jean-Kevin Duverne. The struggling Championship club are set to open their cheque book to bring in the French 20-year-old defender in a 3 million euro deal.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Several reports from France suggest that Sunderland have been monitoring the defender's progress since August and failed in a last gasp move to sign Duverne during the summer transfer window. Sunderland have reportedly agreed a deal with Lens this week that will see the French prospect move to the Stadium of Light on January 7th.

Duverne, who is comfortable playing anywhere in defence and has been at his current club as a youth player since 2010, had also caught the attention of French clubs Rennes and Dijon but has instead opted to move to England.

It is understood that Duverne will put pen to paper on a four year contract with the Black Cats and will likely be involved in first-team action before the end of the season. Will Sunderland stay up and survive the drop from the Championship? Free Bets has all of the best odds.
