Preview: Portsmouth vs S'land

23 February 2008 - 00:48

Portsmouth take on Sunderland in the Premiership on Saturday with the Fratton Park side pushing for European qualification for next season. The Black Cats have the worst away record in the Premier League.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Overview

Pompey are enjoying their best ever season in the Premier League and will be keen on producing a better display than when the Black Cats ran out comfortable 2-0 winners at the Stadium of Light in January.

    Injuries and Suspensions

January signings Jermain Defoe and Milan Baros both missed last weekend's FA Cup but will probably play today. Grant Leadbitter and Dwight Yorke could also both return.

Keane: we must not fear Portsmouth

"We cannot be fearful. It is an opportunity for us to try to get something away from home.

"But to do that, particularly at Portsmouth, we have to be at the races.

"There have been far too many occasions on the road when we have started too slow and given sloppy goals away. You can't do that at this level."

Portsmouth (from): James; Johnson, Campbell, Distin, Hreidarsson, Diop, Muntari, Diarra, Kranjcar, Utaka, Defoe, Baros, Kanu, Davis, Hughes, Aubey, Lauren, Ashdown.
