Everton manager Sam Allardyce is eyeing a potential deal for Manchester United's Chris Smalling with Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka approaching the final years of their respective careers.
The England international has been a regular for the Red Devils during the course of the current season, but manager Jose Mourinho is still rumoured to be on the search for a possible replacement.
According to The Mirror, Everton were keeping tabs on Smalling during United's FA Cup quarter-final game against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
United are yet to open up discussions over a new contract with the defender, and the Toffees are looking to take advantage of the situation, considering his current deal expires in the summer of 2019.
Smalling has produced mixed performances during the ongoing campaign, and there have been calls for him to be dropped following a couple of average performances on the road in 2018.
