Kluivert: one of Holland's top talents

Justin Kluivert

In the Netherlands, the name "Kluivert" is a one fondly associated with one of the country's best ever strikers, Patrick Kluivert. However, his son Patrick Kluivert has emerged from his father's shadow and is fast becoming one of Holland's best young footballing prospects.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Man Utd expected to offload 24-year-old attacker

  • 18-year-old Patrick came through the ranks at Ajax, from where he signed as a child in 2007, to first-team duties in 2016 with the Amsterdam club's first-team. The versatile forward, comfortable playing on either flank or alone in attack, has also now made his debut for the Netherlands' international side having represented his country at every single level.

The 5 foot 7 attacker made his first-team debut in January 2017 and then went on to score his first Eredivisie goal in March 2017. He has now fully established himself in Ajax's first team and this season appears to be his breakout campaign, having already scored 7 league goals from the flank in 25 games for the Dutch side.

Confident, fast and an excellent dribbler of the ball, Justin is excellent at breaking though a rival midfield and is capable of switching play from midfield to attack in rapid fashion. Kluivert is also a competent passer and crosser of the ball, having made several assists for the Dutch club so far this campaign.

Now that Kluivert has made his debut for the Netherlands, he is expected to be a regular first-team player as Ronald Koeman looks to rebuild the country's fortunes after yet another failed qualification for an international tournament.

Koeman has indicated that he expects to rebuild his squad around younger Dutch players.

Kluivert is coveted by many top European clubs and Spanish giants Barcelona are believed to be his favourite club, and eventual destination, should he continue to build on his success for the Dutch club.
