Aston Villa's Swedish defender Olof Mellberg could be on his way out of the club after announcing he may not stay at the club at the end of his contract in July.

Mellberg has told the Swedish press that he hopes to soon play in the European Cup to complete a dream of his and Aston Villa do not match these ambitions at this time.



Martin O'Neill is keen to tie the player down to a new contract and will soon offer the stopper a new two year deal with improved terms.
