Carlo Ancelotti open to Arsenal head coach role?

Former Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti has spoken positively of the ongoing speculation linking him with the Arsenal job. The Italian has been tipped to return to management ahead of the 2018/19 season.

  • Earlier in September, Ancelotti was dismissed from the Bayern Munich job and he has since been associated with a Premier League return with Arsenal and former club Chelsea said to be interested in his signature.

However, in a recent interview, Ancelotti has admitted that he is 'pleased' with rumours that he could succeed Arsene Wenger, though the Gunners hierarchy have to eventually make the final decision

"[Wenger] decided to leave and it was a great gesture of solidity. He made history, and he has to be recognised for that," he is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard. "

"The Gunners know their own future, if their plans involve me then I'm pleased from a professional point of view, but at the moment there's nothing else."

Wenger has decided to step down from the Gunners role at the end of the current campaign and this would end a 22-year reign with the north London giants.

Ancelotti boosts a brilliant CV with three Champions League final triumphs and the Gunners could go with the experience of the Italian ahead of a young and upcoming manager.
