Belgium international Marouane Fellaini has insisted that he is in a strong position at Manchester United with the club's hierarchy doing their best to keep him at the club.
The 30-year-old has been widely tipped to leave Old Trafford in recent weeks, but shortly after the Arsenal triumph, Jose Mourinho hinted that the midfielder is close to a contract extension.
Fellaini has since re-entered into contract talks with the United board and the Belgian is now confident of securing his wage demands, considering Mourinho is desperate for him to stay.
"The entire staff is doing everything I can to stay. Now I am in a strong position, especially since Mourinho has stated that he wants to keep me," he toldĀ Sport.
Manchester United have supposedly offered a one-year deal with a view to a 12-month extension, but according to The Times, the Belgian is eyeing a two-year contract with a 20 per cent hike on his current £80,000-a-week salary.
