In the wake of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's departure, the club are already moving swiftly to tie some of their best players to new deals. It is understood that Jack Wilshere is to be offered a brand new five year contract at the Emirates Stadium.

  • Chelsea defender back in training ahead of Man Utd game
  • Chelsea keen on re-signing former graduate

  • The injury plagued midfielder has had an important season and found himself back amongst the first-team starting XI on a regular basis, with a realistic chance of heading to the World Cup with England in Russia this summer.

Wilshere has so far turned down an offer from Arsenal, with the club believed to have included options in his contract to reduce the period of the deal if the player is injured.

However, it is now understood that Arsenal are on the verge of offering a brand new package to Wilshere, which excludes all clauses with relation to injury.

The player is out of contract this summer and has caught the eye of numerous teams at home and abroad, including bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
