Mousa Dembele all but confirms Tottenham departure

22 June 2018 - 03:22

Belgium international midfielder Mousa Dembele has told the press in his homeland that he will likely leave Tottenham Hotspur after the World Cup has finished. Dembele is entering the final year of his contract and club chairman Daniel Levy is likely to sell the player as Spurs recoup funds to pay for their new stadium.

  • Mousa Dembele had been linked with a transfer to Juventus, but the departure of Emre Can from Liverpool to Turin indicates that Dembele will likely head elsewhere.

It is understood, however, that the Belgian has no plans to play for another Premier League team and would prefer to play in Spain, where he is likely to have no shortage of suitors.

“I won’t say that I’m leaving Spurs right now. Or that I’m staying. If I leave, I won’t join another English club. Tottenham is my team," Dembele told reporters.

Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and Serie A giants AC Milan are all rumoured to be in the race to sign the player.
