Argentine midfielder holds 'positive talks' over Arsenal move

24 June 2018 - 11:35

Arsenal are reportedly deemed favourites to pursue the services of Argentine midfielder Ever Banega this summer.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Earlier last week, reports suggested that the Gunners will hold discussions with the player's representative regarding a summer switch and Calciomercato now claims that the Argentina has had 'positive talks' with the north London side.

Banega has been with Sevilla in four of the previous five seasons but he is said to have grown disillusioned at the Spanish club after they parted ways with director of football Oscar Arias.

As such, he is keen on pushing a fresh challenge away from the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and the Gunners could seal a bargain deal with a fee of around £12m likely to finalise the move.

Irrespective of this, the Gunners appear to have already agreed to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria from a package of around £26m and the move is expected to be made official once he returns from the World Cup duty with Uruguay.
