Manchester United are considering a move for AC Milan central defender Leonardo Bonucci, according to Yahoo.
With Milan facing sanctions over breach of Financial Fair Play rules, there are doubts over their ownership of the Italian defender.
AC Milan bought the Italian international from Juventus in the summer of 2017 for €42m.
Prior to his move to Milan, he spent seven years with Juventus where he won a lot of domestic trophies.
Jose Mourinho is looking to add Bonucci to boost his defence by adding an experienced defender.
Since the departure of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, United have lacked an experienced leader that can guide the defence out of difficult situations.
Bonucci made 31 Serie A appearances last season, scoring two goals as AC Milan ended the season in sixth position.
With Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, and Chris Smalling still at United it remains to be seen if United can fit in another defender.
United have already signed Diogo Dalot and Fred from FC Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk respectively.
