Chelsea and Manchester United could be prepared to go head-to-head to acquire the signature of Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich this summer.
The Chilean midfielder joined Bayern from Juventus in the summer of 2015 and he has since helped the side win three straight league titles.
However, his future remains uncertain heading into another season with the club's hierarchy planning for a clear-out before next month's transfer deadline.
According to SportBild, both Chelsea and United could be in the running to sign the Chile international, who could be available for around £31m this summer.
Nevertheless, United could have the advantage in the pursuit with the Chilean previously admitting that he would want the assurance of Champions League football, should he leave Bayern.
Vidal managed six goals and two assists for the Bavarian giants last term before his season was curtailed by a knee problem for which he has undergone a surgery.
