Hodgson: Fulham can stay up

02 March 2008 - 00:01

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson feels that his side are still in with a shout of Premiership survival. A 3-0 defeat to Premiership champions Manchester United did little to instill confidence in their chances, but Hodgson believes the Cottagers can still survive.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • "I feel confident it's retrievable," he said.

"I can't give guarantees, because for every week that goes by the task becomes more difficult.

"But I think there's enough football quality in our team, I think the team works hard enough, I think the spirit is surprisingly good given the type of season the boys have had so I've got to believe.

"We're there with a chance and we're going to try and take it.

"Maybe one day I'll be standing here when the number of points is less than the number of games we have to play and then I will have to admit defeat, but it certainly won't happen before that time."
