Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed that midfielder Alex Iwobi is close to being rewarded with a fresh long-term contract.
The Nigeria international has made close to 100 appearances for Arsenal since graduating through the youth system and he now appears on the cusp of a new deal.
In a news conference in Singapore, Emery confirmed that the 22-year-old is close to penning a new long-term deal with the club, he said: "I have the information - he's near."
While Emery refused to disclose the contract details, The Sun has recently revealed that Iwobi has agreed upon a five-year contract with the Gunners with the assurance of a weekly package of around £70,000-a-week.
Iwobi has divided opinion among the supporters during his three seasons in the Arsenal first-team but he now appears set to prolong his stay. He contributed three goals and seven assists in 39 appearances for Arsenal last term. His current Gunners deal expires in the summer of 2020.
