Ben Gibson seals Burnley move

05 August 2018 - 14:24

Ben Gibson has completed a club record transfer from Middlesbrough to Burnley. The talented centre-back has made a £15 million move to the Premier League club as the player seeks international recognition and hopes for a chance to play for England's full national team.

  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Burnley have smashed their club transfer record to bring the highly-rated defender to Turf Moor after a long battle in the club's efforts to secure the centre-back's signature.

"I'm absolutely delighted, it's a big step for me," Gibson said.

"I played at Boro for 15 years, since I was a boy, so it's a huge step and one I'm really, really excited about. The place seems like a club that's certainly on the up."

Gibson will be delighted to have made the return to the Premier League, having suffered relegation with Middlesbrough in the 2016-17 season, the same season that the defender also made his first appearance for Gareth Southgate's England side. International honours will likely beckon again with an impressive return season in the top flight.
