Manchester United have reportedly urged Jose Mourinho to make the best use of the club's academy after the board restricted the spending for the recent transfer window.
The Red Devils boss had highlighted the need for at least one signing before the transfer deadline but his comments fell in deaf ears with the hierarchy sticking to the already done business.
According to The Mirror, Mourinho has been told to focus on the youth setup and the club are prepared to make the money available for only the right players in the future.
It is added that the club won't entertain arrivals without a proper re-sale value whilst the same goes for players, who may only be utilised on a short-term basis.
Manchester United begin their league campaign with a home game against Leicester City tonight and Mourinho has suggested that a number of first-team regulars may not make the starting lineup.
