Arsenal have confirmed the departure of goalkeeper David Ospina on a season-long loan to Napoli. The Colombia international was initially fancied to head to Turkey with Besiktas but Napoli have managed to pounce on his temporary signature with the option to buy.
In a report covered on the Gunners' website, the club offered their best wishes to Ospina on his fresh challenge in Naples and provided everything goes right, the 29-year-old should head to the Serie A on a permanent basis at the end of the campaign.
Neither club have specified the exact valuation for the agreement but Calciomercato has recently revealed that Napoli will pay around £890,000 for the temporary move with a further £3.8m allowing them to sign Ospina for the long-term next summer.
Napoli open their league campaign with an away trip to Lazio on Saturday evening and the game may witness third-choice goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis start between the sticks, given another loan signing in Alex Meret broke his arm during pre-season.
