Juan Mata reflects on a bad Sunday for Manchester United

20 August 2018 - 10:37

Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata has described last Sunday as a bad one after his side's loss to Brighton and Hove Albion.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • United lost to Brighton by three goals to two - their first in just two Premier League games this season.

Despite the fact that the season is just starting, the defeat was still painful, according to Mata. He re-echoed Jose Mourinho's view that United made mistakes, leading to the goals conceded by the 13-time Premier League champions.

He made all this known in his weekly blog. He wrote: "Although things have only just begun and there is a long way to go, it always hurts to lose. A lot. We made mistakes and they penalised us for them. We have to pick ourselves back up, improve and be positive."

Manchester United were very awful against Chris Hughton's men. Apart from the defensive frailties, the midfield could not take hold of the game and create opportunities for Romelu Lukaku.

Manchester United will have to improve ahead of their next game against Tottenham Hotspur, otherwise, they will face serious problems against a side who have won their first two league games.
