Manchester United are reportedly planning to offer midfielder Ander Herrera with a fresh two-year contract with his existing deal due to expire at the end of the campaign.
The 29-year-old joined the Red Devils from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2014 and he has since amassed over 150 appearances across all competitions for the club.
In a recent MUTV interview, Herrera indicated his ambition to stay with United for long-term and The Sun reports that the club plan to hold contract negotiations during the upcoming international break.
Herrera has been a valuable player in recent seasons under Jose Mourinho but his gametime is likely to reduce this term with summer signing Fred provide further competition in the centre of the park.
Nonetheless, the Mancunian giants are keen to prolong the Spaniard's stay and they are prepared to negotiate a two-year contract with him at the earliest opportunity.
Herrera recently recovered from a hamstring problem to make the substitutes' bench in the 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion and he may settle for a similar role versus Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.
