Despite sitting very uncomfortably with only 28 points with 9 games to go, Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan is confident that his side will stay up.
Keegan said: "We have the ability and quality to stay in this division. We're confident of that. You need 40 points to stay up - we need four wins."
Keegan has touched on the 40 point mark which has helped teams survive in the past, but after 12 games without a win, and not one victory under Keegan, things still look gloomy for the Toon.
The 3-0 defeat to Liverpool yesterday also proved that Newcastle are miles behind the rest of the Premiership.
