Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has said that attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne does not have a £233m release clause in his current deal at the club.

  • It was earlier reported that the former Barcelona coach had said that the Belgian had a release clause in his latest contract, but he has come out to deny it, saying he was misquoted.

According to Manchester Evening News, the City boss said that the player would cost €250m if a club wanted to buy, meaning that De Bruyne is not for sale.

“He doesn’t have a release clause in his contract, despite what was reported but of course he’s a great player,” he said.

The assist king is currently out injured, but is expected back in two months time.

In his absence, the Citizens have not done badly having gotten ten points from their opening four English Premier League games.

Guardiola's men face Fulham in the league on Saturday before facing Lyon in the UEFA Champions League next Wednesday.
