Sterling contract talk at a stalemate

Sterling contract talk at a stalemate

18 September 2018 - 06:42

Raheem Sterling's contract talk at Manchester City has reached a stalemate, according to the Guardian.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The player and the club have been trying to reach an agreement with his current deal set to expire in 2020, but there is no progress at the moment.

The winger is looking to get more money after his performance for the Citizens last season where he scored 23 goals, but it remains to be seen if his demands will be met.

He is currently receiving around £170,000-a-week, but reportedly wants an increase that will see him go home with at least £250,000-a-week.

The former Liverpool man will have a year left on his current deal by July next year, with Real Madrid said to be monitoring his situation at the Etihad.

The England international has started this season on a good note, having scored three goals in four English Premier League games.

If Sterling can continue in this form, City may be forced to give him what he wants in order to prevent Real Madrid from luring the winger with a very lucrative offer.
