Giggs back Alexis Sanchez to come good

Ryan Giggs speaks on Alexis Sanchez's struggles at Manchester United

27 September 2018 - 18:08

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has backed Alexis Sanchez to come good for the club despite him struggling to make a notable impact since his January move from Arsenal.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Chile international joined the Red Devils in a straight-swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan last winter but he has since struggled in the club's shirt with just two goals and four assists coming from his 17 top-flight appearances.

As a result, a section of the supporters have already voiced their concerns regarding Sanchez, who is presently commanding a Premier League record salary but Giggs feels the attacker will eventually settle in with the club.

"I'm a big fan of Sanchez," he told Sky Sports News. "I was a big fan of his at Arsenal and sometimes it just takes players a bit longer to settle in. I've seen him just off the left the most for United so it just depends who he's playing with and who they're playing against."

Sanchez was not involved in United's shock League Cup exit at the hands of Derby County in midweek but he should return to the fray this weekend when the team make the trip to the English capital to face West Ham United.
