Conte on United radar to replace Mourinho

Manchester United to approach Antonio Conte?

02 October 2018 - 11:31

Manchester United have reportedly identified former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte as a probable target to replace Jose Mourinho as their next head coach.

  • Man Utd star to sign new contract in next 24 hours
  • Napoli & Atletico want to sign Man Utd star for £24m
  • The Red Devils are said to be considering the position of their current manager after they witnessed their worst start to a campaign since 1989.

According to Corriere dello Sport, United's hierarchy are mulling over a change in the forthcoming weeks with Conte earmarked as the prime target to succeed Mourinho at the helm.

It is added that the club are also looking to pursue a sporting director for the very first time with Beppe Marotta, who recently left his position with Juventus, said to be the favourite for the role.

Mourinho is presently under pressure after United's run of three winless games across all competitions and anything less than a win against Valencia in tonight's Champions League game may drawn curtains on his reign.

Manchester United are currently placed 10th in the Premier League with as many points accumulated from seven matches. They are already nine points behind league leaders Manchester City.
