Manchester United maintain support towards Jose Mourinho

Manchester United have reportedly dismissed claims that Jose Mourinho will be sacked from the head coach role following the Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

  • Earlier yesterday, The Mirror suggested that Mourinho's relationship with the United board has broken down altogether and the Portuguese would be relieved from his duties before the end of the weekend.

However, in a report covered by Sky Sports News, senior officials from the club have deemed the story as 'nonsense' and they are prepared to support the Portuguese despite a slow start to the campaign.

United are scheduled to face Newcastle United in the Premier League later today and Mourinho will be expecting a strong performance from the players as they seek to end a four-match winless run across all competitions.

Rafael Benitez's side have struggled to cope with the difficult schedule at the start of the campaign and their usual defensive approach should help United seal a much-needed triumph.
