Manchester United have reportedly kept Zinedine Zidane on standby as they continue to deliberate whether to stick with manager Jose Mourinho for the remainder of the season.

  • United have endured a poor start to the Premier League campaign which have witnessed them win just half of their opening eight matches and this sees them five points behind the top four.

Amidst this, there has been a regular suggestion that the Portuguese could be dismissed from the head position at Old Trafford but according to The Mirror, no such thing may happen in the near future.

As per the publication, United are still said to have plans of recruiting Zidane at some point but they may depend on how long they decide to stick with their current head coach.

Mourinho appeared in deep trouble after his team were 2-0 down to struggling Newcastle United on Saturday but a dramatic comeback which saw United win 3-2, has offered him some breathing space for the forthcoming games.
