England international Luke Shaw is set to be rewarded with a new long-term contract with Manchester United after his strong start to the ongoing campaign.
The left-sided defender found first-team chances hard to come by last term with Ashley Young being preferred ahead of him despite being a winger by trade.
However, Shaw has made a drastic improvement this term which has begun from fitness and according to The Express, the hierarchy are now prepared to commit him to a new five-year contract.
Shaw has undoubtedly been United's sparkling light during their average start to the league season and this has earned the club's Player of the Month accolade in successive months.
He has also made a much-awaited comeback with the England national side but had to withdraw from the recent call-up after sustaining a thigh injury during the recent league meeting versus Newcastle United.
Shaw presently has just under nine months remaining on his existing contract. United triggered the one-year extension clause available in his deal earlier in January.
