Flamengo: Milan have signed Paqueta

17 October 2018 - 16:10

Flamengo’s general manager has confirmed that ‘we’ve signed a contract with Milan’ for Lucas Paqueta. Milan have reportedly agreed a €35m fee with Flamengo for Paqueta, and Bruno Spindel assured the Rossoneri his club would honour their part of the deal.

  • “The decision was strategically good for Flamengo. It creates value and strategic relationships,” he told Pianeta Milan.

“We don’t have to wait any longer. If it’s good for the club then you have to do it. Flamengo wanted to keep Paqueta for longer and extend his contract.

“Playing in Europe is a dream for many players, playing in the Champions League…  Milan are a giant club.

“We can’t offer the same dreams. He couldn’t play with the likes of Messi, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo here.

“We have to grow from this. We tried to renew his contract, but his desire was to play in Europe.

“We talked to different clubs and managed to keep him until the end of the year, before he’ll leave in January.

"Several clubs are not worth naming, but at least 10 clubs have entered the fray, not all at the same level.

“Milan’s offer was the best and it’s good for him. They had Kaka, who made history there. I think Milan are in a good way at the moment.

“There’s Leonardo, Maldini…. They are two points of reference and they know what they’re doing.

“The city has welcomed the Brazilians in the past, so it’ll be good for him and Flamengo to have a player who will do well in Europe.

“We know nothing about any interest from Real Madrid. Is there a possibility? We’ve signed a contract with Milan and we’ll respect it.”
