Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly weighing up an approach to sign Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure during the forthcoming winter transfer window.

  • Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was left frustrated during the summer after the club failed to make a single signing but the Argentine is expected to be active when the transfer window reopens.

According to The Mirror, the north London giants are looking into a move for Doucoure, who has been one of the Hornets' leading performers over the past 18 months.

Spurs are presently considering the positions of both Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama and Doucoure could be regarded as a replacement for the former whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Dembele is said to be content to run down his Spurs contract but the club may seek to offload him in the New Year amid interest from several Chinese Super League clubs.

Meanwhile, Doucoure only penned a fresh five-year deal earlier in the summer and Spurs can expect to pay a sizeable fee to lure him from Vicarage Road.
