Manchester United could sack Jose Mourinho under this condition

13 November 2018 - 18:34

Manchester United have reportedly indicated Jose Mourinho that he could face the axe, should the club fail to qualify for the Champions League next term.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Portuguese has experienced a disappointing start to the season with the Red Devils and they are already 12 points behind toppers Manchester City and seven off fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Amidst this, the pressure is seemingly rising on the head of the former Chelsea boss and according to The Sun, nothing less than a top-four finish may assure him of the managerial role next term.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is among the prime targets on United's radar to succeed Mourinho, though it remains unclear whether the north London side would fancy parting ways with the Argentine.

Mourinho presently has nearly 20 months remaining on his existing deal with the club and United may have to pay a compensation fee of around £15m, if they are to release him next summer.
