Alexandre Lacazette - Arsenal never wanted to sell me

Lacazette clarifies club's stance on his future last summer

Alexandre Lacazette - Arsenal never wanted to sell me

20 November 2018 - 14:13

French striker Alexandre Lacazette has stressed that Arsenal were never keen on selling him during the previous summer transfer window.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The marksman had a relatively average debut season with the Gunners last term where he managed just 15 goals and speculation thereafter suggested that he could be offloaded with the arrival of Unai Emery at the helm.

However, speaking to Arsenal Player, Lacazette has clarified that the Gunners were never keen on sanctioning his sale and they made aware of the same last summer.

"I'm happy because I know now the league, I know my players, my teammates. The club is happy because this summer they didn't want to sell me; they told me 'we are happy to have you in the team'," he said.

Lacazette has been regularly leading the line for the Gunners this term and he has been equally consistent with six goals and two assists across all competitions.

The Frenchman recently bowed out of international duty with an injury but he is expected to be fit for the congested festive schedule which starts from the weekend.
