Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly emerged as the favourite to become the next Bayern Munich head coach.
Wenger has been out of duty since ending his 22-year association with the Gunners last season and he has since been linked with a number of elite European clubs.
Among those, Bayern have been regularly mentioned and according to Bild, the German champions are now seriously considering the option of appointing him.
The Bundesliga holders have gone through a tough run under the guidance of Niko Kovac and they are currently nine points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund after just 12 matches into the league campaign.
As such, there are also already suggestions that Bayern are aiming to part ways with Kovac but it remains to be seen whether they would wait for the winter break before making the change.
Wenger has previously indicated that he would like to return to management with another club but any decision may only take place at the turn of the calendar year.
