Croatia international Ivan Perisic has acknowledged that he could have joined Manchester United when they approached for his signature in the summer of 2017.
The attacker had been regularly linked with the Red Devils during the course of the 2017 summer transfer window but eventually, no breakthrough was found in terms of the valuation.
Perisic thereafter committed his long-term future to the Nerazzurri by penning a fresh long-term contract and he has since stayed put with the San Siro giants despite the speculation
In an interview with FourFourTwo, Perisic admitted that he was on the cusp of joining United before he was convinced to stay put by incoming manager Luciano Spalletti.
"I wanted Manchester United and I was about to accept, but I chose to stay because of Spalletti's perseverance in wanting to play an important role, which are fundamental in football," he said.
Despite this, the attacker admitted that he still has the ambition of featuring in the Premier League and could part ways with the Nerazzurri in the forthcoming seasons to realise the same.
