The Spain international started the season as a regular from the starting lineup but the change in management has witnessed him drop down the pecking order.

According to The Sun, the former Malaga man is weighing up his Bernabeu future after failing to make a single league start since the appointment of Santiago Solari.

Moreover, it is suggested that his relationship with the club's faithful has been far from fruitful this term and that has been made worse after he rejected the captain's armband in the Champions League defeat versus CSKA.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have been highlighted as the prime contenders to acquire his signature but the latter appear keen on gaining a head start by lodging a bid of around &pound70m to prise him away from Los Blancos.
