Chelsea are reportedly close to securing the signature of Gonzalo Higuain in a potential swap deal involving Alvaro Morata heading to AC Milan.
Higuain only joined the Rossoneri on a two-year loan from Juventus during the summer but he has failed to settle to the point that he is eyeing a fresh challenge elsewhere.
According to Sport Mediaset, the Argentine may mutually cut ties with the Rossoneri next month and he could thereafter join the Blues on a temporary basis for the season.
It is added that the deal would directly affect the position of Morata, who could be loaned out to Gennaro Gattuso's side until the conclusion of the 2019/20 campaign.
Higuain started the season brightly with five goals for Milan but he has since gone through a lean run and has not scored since October. Morata, meanwhile, has only fared slightly better than the Argentine with seven goals this term.
