West Ham turn down offer for Obiang

15 January 2019 - 17:04

West Ham have rejected an offer from Serie A side Fiorentina for midfield player Pedro Obiang. The former Sampdoria player is rumoured to be interested in a return to Italy and it is understood that the Hammers have rejected a 14 million euro offer from the Viola.

  • Obiang, who has two years remaining on his deal at the London Stadium, is disappointed that the Hammers have turned down the bid from Fiorentina and is now considering handing in a transfer request to force through a move to a new club.

West Ham signed Obiang in a deal worth around £8 million from Sampdoria two seasons ago and are ready to cash in on the player who has played a bit part role in the Hammers' efforts so far this season.

Obiang came off of the bench in last weekend's 1-0 defeat of Arsenal and it is believed Manuel Pellegrini is considering a new contract for the midfielder to stave off interest from top European clubs.

West Ham are also in the transfer market to sign new players themselves, having been given a budget of 50 million euros to spend on new players this January.
