Sven reveals Thaksin talks

20 March 2008 - 13:01

Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed that he has held positive discussions with Thaksin Shinawatra. The Man City boss has revealed that Champions League qualification remains the ultimate goal.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • Eriksson told the Manchester Evening News: "The atmosphere at the meeting was very good.

"I've had lots of meetings with him in the past, but for obvious reasons we hadn't had one in the last five weeks.

"It was very a constructive dialogue. We talked football as well as Manchester City.

"It is very clear what his aims are, namely to qualify for the UEFA Cup next year and the Champions League the year after that.

"Now we know how to work and what type of players to bring in. Everything is clear and very good.

"What the chairman is seeking is ambitious, but it is a clear ambition and we now know the targets. We hope that we can reach those targets.

"It is realistic to try to be among the ten best this season, the six best next season and then, we hope, the four best the year after. It is better to build slowly like that."
