Manchester United to lose Spanish duo in the summer?

Herrera, Mata to leave United on a free?

Manchester United to lose Spanish duo in the summer?

25 March 2019 - 19:02

Manchester United are facing the possibility of losing Spanish duo Herrera and Juan Mata for free when the current season comes to a close.

  • Chelsea planning move for marquee centre-back
  • Juventus exploring deal for Chelsea striker
  • The pair are currently contracted to United until June 2019 and talks over an extension have seemingly stalled with neither being rewarded with a significant wage hike.

According to The Mirror, United are currently not keen on offering significant salary hikes for either Herrera or Mata and this may witness them leave for nothing when the campaign concludes.

Herrera, in particular, has been an influential player under the guidance of interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this year but the club are facing the possibility of losing his services with Paris Saint-Germain willing to offer him with a bumper wage rise.

Mata, meanwhile, has not enjoyed the same amount of gametime as his compatriot but he has nonetheless proved a useful squad player. Unlike Herrera, the hierarchy have yet to present any contract offer on the table for the former Chelsea man.
