Cardiff City to make move for Colombian footballer

31 March 2019 - 09:57

Cardiff City have all but sealed a move to sign Colombian international Luis Diaz at the end of the season. The winger, who plays for Junior Barranquilla, will make a transfer move to the Premier League side for a fee of around £6.4 million in the summer.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

  • Luis Diaz, who was born in the city in which he plays, has had a meteoric rise to the club's first team and has been in insatiable form last season having bagged 13 goals in 38 games in Categoria Primera A. He finally made his debut for Colombia after the World Cup, on the 27th August 2018, against both Venezuela and Argentina. Diaz is widely considered the best prospect in his home country.

Diaz only needs to put pen to paper on the contract on offer to make a move to England. Diaz said to reporters yesterday: “Yes, there is already a pre-agreement, but I still have not said anything to them, nothing to the leaders that I agree with and that I’m going to go.

"Let’s say there is an agreement between clubs, but I’m still holding back. I told them that I am determined to go, but I am calm and I want to do things well. If the possibility is given, it would be good.

"I have not yet submitted any medical exams. Junior had a talk, which is a preliminary agreement and nothing has been confirmed, the proposal was put in place and I have not yet traveled there.”
