Hudson-Odoi undergoes successful surgery

Chelsea update on Callum Hudson-Odoi's injury

24 April 2019 - 18:49

Chelsea have confirmed that Callum Hudson-Odoi has gone through a successful surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon which he sustained during the Premier League meeting against Burnley.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • The England international picked up the problem during the first half of the Clarets clash and it is now certain that he will miss the rest of the campaign and potentially the beginning of next season.

"Callum successfully underwent surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon last night. He will miss the rest of this campaign and will spend the summer undergoing rehabilitation in order to resume full training as soon as possible," a statement on the club's official website read.

Hudson-Odoi currently has 14 months remaining on his existing deal with the club and it had previously been suggested that he could head through the exit door in the summer.

However, with the long-term injury setback, he appears likely to stay put with the Blues and there are suggestions that the club are prepared to negotiate a fresh £100,000-a-week deal with him.

Hudson-Odoi has bagged five goals and five assists for the Blues in 26 outings this term. Out of those, only 10 have come in the Premier League where he has started on just four occasions.
