Wigan back in trouble

Wigan's mini revival came to a shuddering halt today as Blackburn taught them a footballing lesson at Ewood Park, defeating Wigan 3-1 thanks to superb goals from Roque Santa Cruz.

  • Blackburn took the lead through Roque Santa Cruz in the 12th minute but were quickly reduced to 10 men when Christopher Samba saw red.

Marlon King levelled matters from the spot and the Latics appeared to be on course for another win.

But Steve Bruce's men were stunned shortly before the break when Jason Roberts restored the advantage for the hosts.

And Santa Cruz wrapped up the points with his second goal after 63 minutes.
