Liverpool set to reward midfielder with a new contract

11 June 2019 - 19:24

England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly in line to receive an extension to his existing deal with Liverpool.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The midfielder missed nearly the entirety of the previous season with a serious knee injury and he managed just a couple of substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Despite this, the Reds hierarchy are said to keep the faith on the former Arsenal man and they are now prepared to reward him with a year's extension on his contract.

Should Oxlade-Chamberlain accept the proposal, his current deal would be extended until the summer of 2023 with the assurance of a minor hike on his weekly wages.

Liverpool are also in discussions over a new contract for Belgian striker Divock Origi, who was pivotal to the team's success in the Champions League during the final phase.

Origi's present deal expires at the end of next season but Jurgen Klopp's side are prepared to offer him with a fresh four-year contract after his goalscoring contribution at crucial stages last term.
