Crystal Palace tracking Algerian powerhouse Baghdad Bounedjah

Crystal Palace are readying a move for talented striker Baghdad Bounedjah, with the Algerian forward catching the eye of the club's scouting network during the African Cup of Nations tournament. Baghdad Bounedjah plays for Al-Sadd in Qatar and has returned an impressive haul of 82 goals in 59 games since arriving at the club in 2015.

  • Al-Sadd, who are managed by Barcelona legend Xavi, have slapped a £15 million pricetag on the Algerian international striker, who could be moving to the Eagles as a possible replacement for Wilfried Zaha. Zaha has been linked with a mega money transfer to Arsenal and will leave a huge gap at Selhurst Park that the club hope to fill with the signing of Bounedjah.

The Algerian international started his career at RCG Oran - where he had equally impressive goalscoring stats scoring 69 goals in 46 games - before making regular moves between smaller clubs before ending up in Qatar.

Crystal Palace are well aware that the money they receive from the Aaron Wan-Bissaka and likely exit of Wilfried Zaha will have to be well spent and a transfer for Bounedjah, 27, will represent great value for money even if the striker is unproven at the highest level.
