Celtic boss responds to Arsenals interest in Kieran Tierney

Lennon confirms Arsenal second bid for Tierney

Celtic boss responds to Arsenal's interest in Kieran Tierney

16 July 2019 - 17:26

Celtic head coach Neil Lennon has acknowledged that the Hoops have turned down a fresh approach from Arsenal to secure the signature of Kieran Tierney this summer.

  • Chelsea duo return to partial team training
  • Chelsea planning to sell Sterling to sign Crystal Palace star?

  • The Scotland international has been earmarked as the Gunners' prime target to strengthen the left-back position and they had recently come up with a renewed £10m increase on their initial £15m offer which was rejected.

However, the Scottish champions have once again declined the advances and Lennon has revealed the same saying: "I don't know what Arsenal's financial state is, I know what ours is and we are quite comfortable with the situation at the moment. There has been a second bid, the bid has been rejected, and it's as you were."

Arsenal are understood to have proposed a deal involving installments rather than a one-time payment, considering they are working on a limited £45m budget for the summer.

But the same does not seem feasible for the Glasgow giants, who are understood to want a sizeable sum upfront rather than receiving the fees over an extended period of time.
