Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged the board to speed up the pursuit of Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes amid the fresh interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with the Portugal international in the past few weeks and reports have indicated that the club have already met up with the representative of the midfielder.
According to A Bola, Solskjaer has refused to give up on the purchase of Fernandes despite the board's decision to spend most of the remaining budget on Leicester's Harry Maguire.
The same publication claims that Sporting are awaiting an opening offer of around £50m from United and that should be sufficient to push through a deal.
Fernandes currently has a £31.5m release clause on his contract but Sporting are expected to break that stipulation by paying the midfielder around £4.2m this summer.
Aside from United, Tottenham have also been linked with the 24-year-old midfielder, but they are unlikely to pay more than £40m for the Nations League winner.
