Manchester United end interest in signing Brazilian playmaker

Coutinho not on United radar

Manchester United end interest in signing Brazilian playmaker

30 July 2019 - 17:28

Manchester United have formally ended their interest in signing Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho this summer.

  • Juventus and Napoli enter race for Chelsea winger
  • Felix Nmecha linked with Chelsea move

  • Coutinho has experienced a forgettable 18-month stint with the Blaugrana and this has seen him linked with a potential return to the Premier League.

Both United and former club Liverpool have been touted as possible destinations for the 27-year-old but Mundo Deportivo claims that neither of them are likely to make an approach before the transfer deadline.

The Red Devils have placed the emphasis on pursuing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, who is regarded as a much cheaper option when compared to the Brazil international.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp's side have likewise ruled themselves out from meeting the £120m price tag for the attacker with the manager content with the options at hand.

Still, Coutinho may pursue a fresh challenge away from the Camp Nou this summer, considering Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to pay big or land him in a part-exchange deal involving Neymar.
