Manchester United are reported to have an 'agreement in principle' to sign midfielder Bruno Fernandes from Sporting before next month's transfer deadline.
The Red Devils have been associated with the Portuguese's signature since the beginning of the transfer window but Sporting have recently denied that there has been a formal offer from the Premier League giants.
Still, Correio da Manha claims that the club have struck an agreement over a deal for the 24-year-old and the same is expected to be announced formally before the transfer window closes on August 8.
Sporting are scheduled to face Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup this weekend and reports indicate that Fernandes' proposed move to Old Trafford has been delayed with a view to the midfielder playing in that game.
Fernandes was in scintillating form for Sporting during the course of the 2018/19 campaign and he contributed 32 goals and 18 assists from 53 appearances in all competitions.
Aside from Fernandes, United have also been fancied to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus in a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku, but the former has yet to give the go-ahead for the move.
